Updated review of the Fujitsu waterproof tablet
By admin. Filed in Gadget reviews |“In the Country of the Blind the One-Eyed Man is King“ - it is as if to say, the world of tablets with the same features and operating system, the one who is waterproof is tougher.
As we mentionned in a past post, Fujitsu unveiled at CES 2012 two mobile devices that can stay under water up to thirty minutes without it detracting from the device. The video shows a tablet and a smartphone that are dipped in a bowl full of H2O and that when removed, act as if they had just gone to ”shower”.
The stars of the video are the Arrows Tab tablet Fujitsu F-01D and ES IS12F smartphone Arrows.
The Arrows will be the line of Fujitsu waterproof devices.
The tablet has 10.1-inch, 1200×800 pixel resolution, dual-core processor TI OMAP4, 1GHz, another gig of RAM, Wi-Fi connections and 4G, a 1.3 megapixel front camera while the back is 5MP.
The phone has a 4-inch AMOLED screen, 480×800 resolution, 6.7 mm thick,single-core processor 1.4GHz Snapdragon, 5 megapixel camera on the back and Gorilla Glass - which curiously does not work when submerged.
The Japanese manufacturer has not revealed the secret used for waterproofing of equipment or functions that you can run with the devices underwater. One thing is not to damage, but something else is able to take pictures and videos in a pool. That would indeed be a step forward in the world of tablets.
Our tests showed that when only a portion of the screen is out of water, responds to the touch, but when fully submerged, no. All multimedia inputs (USB, HDMI) have special coverings that prevent water from entering.
Just out of curiosity, both devices run Android (3.2 for the tablet, 2.3 smartphone) and will only be released for now, in the Japanese market. Until then try not to go swimming with a tablet in your pocket or drop the phone in the bathtub (whatever the reason why this would happen).
